Cozy cocktails for cold days

Stay warm and fuzzy this winter

11.28.17

As the colder months roll around, we all want to stay nice and toasty warm inside. I'm not sure about you, but the two things that keep me warm in the winter are hot tea and white wine. Unfortunately, the two don’t go well together. Lucky for you, I compiled a list of tasty drinks to keep you warm during these chilly months.

While tea and wine don’t mix, hot cocoa and wine are rumored to complement each other… you know, chocolate and wine?

What you’ll need:
1 cup milk
½ cup hot cocoa mix
½ cup red wine
Whipped cream

Directions:
On low, heat milk in a saucepan. Mix in cocoa powder into warm milk. Remove from heat and mix in red wine. Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream!

What you’ll need:
1 cup milk
1½ oz semisweet chocolate, chopped (or hot cocoa mix)
1½ oz peppermint schnapps
Whipped cream
Peppermint candy stick

Directions:
On low, heat half of milk in saucepan. Add chocolate or hot cocoa mix, stirring constantly. When the chocolate has melted, stir quickly and add the rest of the milk. Pour into mug and stir in peppermint schnapps. Add whipped cream and a peppermint candy stick to garnish.

What you’ll need:
2 oz Bailey Original Irish Cream
½ oz vanilla flavored vodka
6 oz hot chai tea

Directions:
Combine Irish Cream and vanilla vodka to a mug. Add hot chai tea. Add whipped cream and a little bit of cinnamon.

What you’ll need:
8 oz apple cider
1/8 unsalted butter
1 tsp dark brown sugar
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
Rum
Cinnamon stick

Directions:
On low, simmer apple cider in medium saucepan. Stir in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg. Continue mixing until all is dissolved. Pour into a mug and add a shot of rum. Garnish with cinnamon stick.

Pick your flavor, either spicy or sweet, and heat yourself up a drink so you can thaw out in this frigid weather!
